Throughout my career I have drawn from a number of therapeutic approaches. Although I was originally trained in Psychodynamic therapy and Family Systems, my clinical journey has taken me to the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS).

I have completed Internal Family Systems training levels 1 and 2. Seeing how profoundly helpful IFS was for individuals, I continued my training in Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO). This is a couple and relationship therapy incorporating IFS. I have completed the basic training as well as the advanced training.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). This is an evidence-based approach that helps people recover from trauma and other distressing experiences.

About IFS and IFIO..

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a model of therapy that was created by Richard Schwartz. It is a non-pathologizing, non-judgemental approach that gently and respectfully allows clients to explore their experience. It believes that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has a “Self” that is untarnished by pain, hurt and trauma. It is a place of limitless compassion, curiosity, connection, creativity, courage, calm, clarity and confidence.

Additionally, we have a multitude of ”parts” that are like our own inner family with different viewpoints, feelings and roles. Sometimes these parts are in conflict with one another. Sometimes one of them takes over. When clients access this "Self” they are able to understand their parts, unburden negative beliefs and feelings to experience more internal harmony and shifts in their sense of well being.

Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO) is a powerful relationship model created by Toni Herbine-Blank. It is based on Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamics and Neuroscience. It helps couples self-regulate and stay connected to their own inner security and self-compassion. This enables couples to better communicate, repair from a relational rupture and deepen their connection with one another.
